About Us
The Ford Thunderbird Owners Club of NZ Inc. was founded after a group of Thunderbird enthusiasts met in Hamilton, Labour Weekend 1994. For over 25 years, our main objective has been to preserve and promote the Ford Thunderbird motor car and to have fun while doing it!
Our club currently has over 78 family members, predominantly from the North Island as far North as Kaitaia and as far South as Wellington. We hold various events throughout the year and members also catch up at hot rod runs and car shows such as Beach Hop and the Kumeu Hot Rod & Classic Car Show.
The highlight event of the year is our Annual Convention held each Labour Weekend at varying cities around New Zealand. It is is by far our largest event, with a great turnout each year. Over the weekend, members are treated to a mix of activities and entertainment and we hold our annual Car Show, which is judged by members of the public followed by a prize giving.
We are always looking to increase the number of events available to our club members and encourage members to organise and attend events in their area. Check out our Events page for upcoming meet ups.
We are a great bunch of people and we welcome new members! In our club it's not all about the cars, though they are a common talking point. We pride ourselves on being a fun loving group and we even have 3rd generation T-bird kids in the club!

Where is the next Annual Convention?Our 2023 Convention is to be held in Napier on Labour Weekend. Each year we will announce the details of our convention on our website and Facebook Group.

Are there any other upcoming events?Keep an eye on our Events page which we will keep up to date with any upcoming events we are hosting or meeting at as a club. If you are a member who is hosting an event, please let us know so we can include it on the website!

How can I access the members area?All current members can have access to our online forums, news & updates from the committee and our Member Profiles page. This content is only visible with a log in via this website. Links to log in can be found in the header and footer of the site. If you are a current member yet to create an account, please sign up using your personal email address and we will approve your access. Any issues, please let us know. We also have a private facebook group for members only which you can request to join.

How do I become a member?It's easy! Simply fill out our online registration form, pay the registration fee and we will be in touch. If you aren't sure you want to join yet, you can still attend events as a non-member until you decide (note: certain events may incur a fee).

What are the benefits of joining?With over 70 members, we are a great club who enjoy connecting with like-minded people, catching up at events & having fun! Attend our events at the subsidised rate, such as our annual Labour Weekend Convention, and catch up with members at other popular events such as Beach Hop. Our members have a collective wealth of knowledge and expertise which is always at your disposal, via our online Members-only forums or our private Facebook group. The members area on our website allows you to connect with other members, ask and answer questions and keep up to date with our latest club news. We are an awesome bunch of people and we welcome new members. In our club it's not all about the cars, though they are a common talking point! We will soon be sharing our Club sponsors and other members-only benefits.

What are your member fees?To run the club and help to subsidise the cost of the events we run, we charge $75 per year due 1st April for membership.
